Marilicious Approved: Umbria Clay Purifying Mask by Fresh

Fresh Clay Mask Review /

I’m always on the look out for face cleansers that are free of nasties and especially free of Sodium Laureth Sulfate (makes your skin’s pH alkaline when the natural pH of healthy skin is actually acidic and hence transform your skin into a paradise for bacteria as they thrive in alkaline environments on the skin, more info on that nasty ingredient in this post here, should you suffer from breakouts and acne I strongly suggest you check the ingredients of your cleanser and change asap should Sodium Laureth Sulfate be part of the ingredient list) ; long story short, this Umbria Clay Purifying Mask by Fresh, which can be used as a cleanser, is a winner. I love its texture and how my skin feels afterwards.

What is the Umbria Clay Purifying Mask by Fresh?

This product is a three in one, can be used as a mask, a deep cleanser and a spot treatment to minis imperfections.

Umbrian Clay, the star ingredient of this product comes from the Italian region of Umbria and its properties are so good for the skin. It balances, purifies and clarifies the skin. It deeply cleanses the pores while respecting the skin’s balance and natural barrier. It cleanses without destroying the skin which is always what we are going for.

Please remember that this is your skin we’re talking about, not the bathroom floor. No need to scrub it like crazy to cleanse it deeply. Lots of products will do the job, detoxify the pores, while keeping your skin healthy. No irritation, no dryness, no discomfort, and a better skin on its way to flawlessness. And this Umbria Clay Purifying Mask by Fresh does just that.

How to use it?

Although it says on the packaging that it’s a mask, I have actually never used it as a mask. Whoopsie. As much as I love skincare and love layering products on top products, masks have never really my thing… I bought this product in the first place because when I came across it I loved the fact that it could be used as a daily deep cleanser.

I use on damp skin and then rub it in my skin, rinse, pat my skin dry and follow up with my skincare routine. It is fresh, I love the texture and my skin feels very cleansed and healthy each time I use it.

It is a winner when it comes to second cleansing. It’s not a makeup remover so use an oil based cleanser as your first cleanser and then this. Perfect for those days when you’ve had a full face of makeup.

Can also be used in the am, especially when the weather is hot and humid and you feel sticky when you wake up… Although I like their Soy Face Cleanser better as a morning cleanser, review here.

What’s in it?

No parabens, no sulfates, no phthalates. Non comedogenic.

Solum Fullonum (Fuller’s Earth), Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Leaf Extract, Fusanus Spicatus Wood Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower Water, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Sodium Chloride, Xanthan Gum, Polyacrylamide, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Laureth-7, BHT, Alcohol, Farnesol, Linalool, Phenoxyethanol.

Packaging

Comes in two packagings, a big jar (3.3 oz / 100 ml) that retails for $58 and a smaller tube (1 oz / 30 ml), $23. By now you know I’m not a fan of jars (everything should come in a spray, pump, tube or pipette…), so doesn’t come as a surprise that I went for the small tube, perfect as well for traveling and easier to use. A little goes a long way, available here.

Would I buy it again?

Yes, I’am about to finish my second tube.

If you like cleansers like the REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser, you should like this too!
